- The ATX ended the November 4 Vienna session at 6,518.52 points, up 1.91 percent.
- Heavyweight banks led the advance, while AT&S and OMV lagged among notable constituents.
- European bank stocks benefited from a broader rotation toward value shares and renewed euro-area rate expectations.
The ATX finished the Vienna trading session on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at 6,518.52 points. That was an increase of 122.39 points, or 1.91 percent, from the previous session's close of 6,396.13 points on Tuesday. The Vienna Stock Exchange records the ATX value at 17:50:01 Berlin time on November 4 and identifies 6,396.13 points as the last closing price.
Banks drive the strong finish
The day's advance was concentrated in heavyweight financial stocks. A t-online report carrying dpa-AFX said Bawag, Erste Group and Raiffeisen Bank International rose between 3.5 percent and 5.8 percent. The report described banks as the strongest European sector and attributed the broader backdrop to rotation from technology shares and US equities into European value stocks, as well as higher expectations for euro-area interest rates.
Constituent performance was mixed
Raiffeisen was among the strongest ATX constituents, gaining 5.83 percent, while Bawag rose 4.31 percent and Erste Group advanced 3.45 percent, according to the closing market overview from finanzen.ch. Lenzing, DO & CO and other industrial or consumer names also finished higher.
The advance was not uniform. AT&S fell 5.36 percent in a weak technology environment, while OMV declined 0.69 percent as lower oil prices weighed on the energy stock. Verbund edged down 0.14 percent. The ATX moved between an intraday low of 6,396.94 points and a high of 6,633.24 points before ending well below the day's peak.
Quarterly reports move into focus
Company news in Vienna was limited on Wednesday, but the local reporting calendar becomes busier on Thursday. Mayr-Melnhof, Lenzing, Verbund and AT&S were scheduled to present quarterly figures, according to the dpa-AFX report. For investors, those releases may provide a fresh test of whether the market's recent preference for banks and value stocks extends to individual earnings updates.
