- The ATX closed 0.56 percent higher at 6,475.46 points on October 29, 2026.
- The ECB left its three key interest rates unchanged, while warning that higher energy prices pose upside risks to inflation.
- OMV gained 1.6 percent after reporting stronger third-quarter profit and cash flow, while Andritz rose 0.4 percent.
The ATX finished Thursday's session higher, extending the positive tone seen on the previous trading days. The Austrian benchmark closed at 6,475.46 points, up 0.56 percent, according to a dpa-AFX report published by Finanznachrichten.de. The ATX Prime gained 0.48 percent to 3,177.79 points.
ECB decision brings limited impulse
The European Central Bank left its three key interest rates unchanged, as expected. In its statement, the ECB said that rising energy prices create upside risks for inflation and downside risks for economic growth. The central bank also said that financing conditions had tightened since its previous meeting and reaffirmed its data-dependent, meeting-by-meeting approach.
The rate decision itself provided little fresh momentum for Vienna equities. Market participants continued to assess the possibility of another increase in December, while broader European markets also ended clearly higher. Technology shares remained a weak spot internationally after disappointing results from Alphabet and Samsung revived concerns about the returns on artificial-intelligence investment. AT&S, however, ended the session unchanged.
OMV results support energy shares
OMV was among the main supports for the ATX and rose 1.6 percent. The oil and gas group reported a marked increase in third-quarter profit and revenue, helped by higher oil and gas prices and stronger refining margins. According to the dpa-AFX report, net income and cash flow before working-capital effects exceeded expectations, although the chemicals division fell short of analyst forecasts.
Andritz shares added 0.4 percent after the plant engineering group increased third-quarter revenue and profit. Its order intake missed analyst expectations, but Erste Group described the quarter as solid and anticipated further profitability improvements. The assessment also indicated that the stock's valuation offered less room to catch up with peers.
Market focus beyond Thursday
The session showed that company-specific results and the energy market remained important counterweights to monetary-policy uncertainty. For investors, the ECB's warning on energy-led inflation keeps the interest-rate outlook relevant even after Thursday's unchanged decision.
