- Recurring revenue rose organically, led by cloud software and continued customer migration.
- Wolters Kluwer expects higher product development and restructuring spending in the fourth quarter.
- Full-year results are scheduled for February 24, 2027.
Wolters Kluwer reported 6% organic revenue growth for the first nine months of 2026 and reaffirmed its full-year outlook on Wednesday, November 4. The company said in a GlobeNewswire press release that the stronger third quarter lifted the year-to-date organic growth rate from 5% at the half-year stage.
Cloud software drives recurring revenue
Revenue increased 4% at constant exchange rates, including the net effect of acquisitions and disposals, while reported revenue rose 2% after a 2% currency headwind. Recurring revenue, which represents 85% of the total, grew 7% organically. Recurring cloud software revenue, accounting for 24% of the total, rose 15% organically.
Print remains a drag: print activities represent 4% of revenue and reduced group organic growth by 100 basis points. Regional growth was 5% in North America, 7% in Europe and 7% in Asia-Pacific and the rest of the world. Tax & Accounting grew 6% organically, with cloud software up 17%.
Profit growth outpaces revenue
Adjusted operating profit increased 10% at constant exchange rates, which the company attributed to operating leverage and efficiency gains. Adjusted free cash flow rose 3%, as working-capital outflows and higher interest and tax payments absorbed much of the operating profit improvement.
Management expects product development and restructuring spending to increase significantly in the fourth quarter. Product development spending had remained at 11% of revenue through September, but the full-year plan calls for 12% to 13% to support the company's artificial-intelligence strategy.
Outlook stays unchanged
Wolters Kluwer continues to target an adjusted operating profit margin of approximately 28.0%, compared with 27.5% in 2025. It also expects adjusted free cash flow of 1,300 million to 1,350 million euros and high-single-digit growth in diluted adjusted earnings per share at constant exchange rates.
The company completed the sale of its German consumer tax business for 40 million euros at the end of October. Net debt stood at 4,070 million euros on September 30, with net debt to EBITDA at 2.0 times. Wolters Kluwer had repurchased 264 million euros of shares under its 2026 program through November 3 and signed a mandate for up to 75 million euros of repurchases in January and February 2027.
Wolters Kluwer stock traded at 89.25 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 11:18 CET on Wednesday, November 4.
For investors, the update points to resilient recurring demand and accelerating cloud adoption, but also to a heavier investment load late in the year. The unchanged guidance leaves execution of the artificial-intelligence roadmap and the fourth-quarter spending schedule as the next key tests.
