WIG 20 gains 1.68 percent in late trading as banks lead

Drivers of late trading
Most major Warsaw indexes were higher during the session. Banks and KGHM provided the main support for WIG 20, while Orlen, PGE and Tauron moved lower, according to Strefa Inwestorow.
Trading activity was substantial. The Warsaw Stock Exchange said WIG 20 turnover had reached PLN 1.014 billion by 3:00 p.m., while turnover across the Main Market stood at PLN 1.557 billion, in a Warsaw Stock Exchange market-status update.
What is ahead
The Monetary Policy Council began a two-day meeting on October 6. Its interest-rate decision is scheduled for October 7, with economists cited by Wprost expecting the reference rate to remain at 3.75 percent.
The next session will follow the council's decision on October 7, 2026.
