Wheaton Precious Metals is entering a closely watched capital-allocation phase ahead of its third-quarter report. In an interview held late last month and published on October 28, President and CEO Haytham Hodaly told The Northern Miner that Wheaton expects to repay its debt and have USD 4 billion available for new deals by the end of 2027.

Hodaly said Wheaton is generating more than USD 250 million in free cash flow each month and carries USD 1.9 billion in net debt. The planned financing capacity would include borrowing available through credit lines, so it does not represent cash already committed to a transaction.

Streaming Model In Focus

Wheaton provides upfront funding to mining companies in exchange for future deliveries of precious-metals byproducts. The model gives Wheaton exposure to gold and silver production without operating the mines itself, while the company can use operating cash flow and debt capacity to add new streams.

Hodaly pointed to large copper projects in Latin America as potential openings, although he ruled out buying copper streams. He also said higher commodity prices are helping mining companies unlock value in existing portfolios, which could increase demand for Wheaton's financing model.

The next test is the company's third-quarter update. Wheaton said in its official release that it will publish results after the market close on Thursday, November 5. The conference call is scheduled for Friday, November 6, at 11:00 a.m. Eastern Time.

Investors will focus on operating cash flow, progress in reducing leverage and any update on the timing of new streaming agreements. The report may also clarify how the Antamina stream and prevailing precious-metals prices affected revenue and cash generation during the quarter.
