Western Digital stock traded at 314.73 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 14:40 CET on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, 3.38 percent above the Xetra close of Monday, November 2. The quote puts the stock in focus after the company reported a strong opening quarter for fiscal 2027.
On October 22, Western Digital reported fiscal first-quarter results for the period ended October 2. In its financial release, the company said revenue reached 4.381 billion US dollars, up 55 percent from the year-earlier quarter and 17 percent from fiscal fourth-quarter revenue.
Margins and cash flow expand
GAAP gross margin rose to 57.8 percent from 43.5 percent a year earlier, while non-GAAP gross margin reached 58.1 percent. Non-GAAP operating margin widened to 49.1 percent from 30.4 percent, and non-GAAP diluted earnings per share increased to 4.64 US dollars from 1.78 US dollars.
Western Digital generated 1.60 billion US dollars in operating cash flow and 1.38 billion US dollars in free cash flow during the quarter. Chief Executive Irving Tan said robust customer demand and disciplined execution supported the start to fiscal 2027. He also pointed to technology transitions and broader customer relationships as the company works to meet growing storage demand.
Higher guidance raises the bar
For fiscal second quarter 2027, management expects revenue of 5.1 billion US dollars, plus or minus 100 million US dollars. The outlook implies year-over-year growth of 66 percent to 72 percent. Non-GAAP gross margin is expected at 60 percent to 61 percent, while non-GAAP diluted earnings per share are forecast at 5.80 US dollars, plus or minus 0.20 US dollars.
Chief Financial Officer Kris Sennesael linked the outlook to continued exabyte growth and improved pricing. For investors, the next test is whether higher-capacity storage demand can support the forecast margin expansion as the company advances its product transitions.
The board also declared a quarterly cash dividend of 0.175 US dollars per share, a 17 percent increase. Western Digital plans to pay the dividend on December 17, 2026, to shareholders of record at the close of business on December 4.
