- Third-quarter revenue rose while net profit declined as expenses grew faster than sales.
- Digital commerce remained a growth driver, with Mexican e-commerce sales advancing strongly.
- Management maintained its full-year constant-currency sales outlook despite lower profitability.
Walmart de México y Centroamérica reported third-quarter results on October 27, 2026, with revenue growth overshadowed by weaker profitability. Reuters said net profit fell 6% to MXN 11.03 billion, below the MXN 12.26 billion analyst estimate, while rising costs and investment spending narrowed margins.
Sales Growth Meets Higher Costs
Revenue increased 3% year over year to MXN 248.83 billion in the July-to-September quarter. EBITDA rose 0.4% to MXN 25.37 billion, but the EBITDA margin narrowed by 30 basis points to 10.2% as expenses outpaced sales.
Digital commerce provided a counterweight. E-commerce sales in Mexico increased 16%, while goods delivered from stores rose 21%. Same-store sales gained 1.7% in Mexico, supported by a 1.6% increase in the average ticket, while customer traffic was broadly unchanged.
Guidance Remains Unchanged
Management reaffirmed its 2026 forecast for consolidated sales growth of 3.5% to 4.5% in constant currency. It continues to expect the EBITDA margin to finish slightly below the prior year's level, leaving margin execution as the key near-term issue for investors.
Walmex opened 42 stores during the quarter, including 39 in Mexico and three in Central America. The expansion adds to the retailer's investment base, but also contributes to the spending pressure visible in the quarterly results.
