United Parcel Service raised its 2026 financial outlook on Tuesday, October 27, after third-quarter revenue rose 6.7 percent year over year. The company is also entering the holiday peak with a larger role for automated sorting and a deliberate reduction in lower-margin Amazon volume.

Higher revenue outlook after third quarter

According to UPS, consolidated third-quarter revenue reached USD 22.9 billion. The company lifted its full-year revenue outlook to USD 92.6 billion from USD 91.2 billion and raised its adjusted diluted earnings-per-share outlook to USD 7.28 from USD 7.22.

UPS expects fourth-quarter revenue of USD 25.7 billion and adjusted operating profit of USD 3.3 billion. The guidance points to a stronger top line, although the company continues to reshape its parcel mix and manage seasonal capacity.

Automation shapes the holiday peak

Nearly 70 percent of holiday packages are expected to pass through automated sorting inside UPS facilities, according to a report by Yahoo Finance. Chief Executive Carol Tomé has described the network as increasingly reliant on sensing technology and RFID-enabled processing.

The operational shift comes as UPS continues to move away from lower-margin Amazon packages. The company expects fourth-quarter daily package volume to decline year over year, while higher revenue per package and growth in selected business segments are intended to support profitability.
