Universal Music Group is adding a new licensing channel as Adobe brings fully licensed music clips from UMG artists to Premiere mobile. The arrangement, announced on November 3, extends the music group's catalog into mobile video creation and gives creators new ways to build content around licensed tracks.

According to Universal Music Group, users will be able to browse, search and preview music by artist or track, add up to 60 seconds of a popular song to a video and use music-powered templates. The company said the tracks are licensed for personal, non-commercial use, while Adobe Stock Audio remains available for projects requiring commercial licenses.

What the Adobe deal adds

The partnership places UMG music directly inside a mobile editing workflow rather than limiting discovery to listening platforms. That creates another route for artists and songwriters to reach audiences, although the initial use case is focused on personal creation and social sharing.

The announcement follows UMG's third-quarter results for the period ended September 30, 2026. Revenue rose 11.7 percent at constant currency to 3.394 billion euros, while Recorded Music subscription revenue increased 19.2 percent. Excluding the Downtown consolidation, subscription growth was 9.5 percent. Physical revenue also advanced 17.4 percent at constant currency.
