Cariverona is weighing how it could contribute to UniCredit's next governance structure, adding a shareholder perspective to the bank's pending leadership transition. The comments were reported by Il Sole 24 Ore on October 30.
Shareholder role remains open
Cariverona chairman Bruno Giordano said the foundation would make its assessment independently, guided by governance quality, bank stability and long-term value creation. He did not rule out any option available under the regulatory and statutory framework, including a possible role in preparing candidate lists.
UniCredit is due to renew its senior management in spring 2027 and will also need to choose a new chairman after Pier Carlo Padoan announced that he will leave at the end of his term. The succession process therefore remains open, with no successor named in the report.
