What has changed since the last report
The new earnings update puts the bank's latest operating performance into sharper focus. Reported net profit attributable to shareholders was USD 2.69 billion, while underlying pretax profit reached USD 4.077 billion, up 14% year over year. Reported revenue was USD 13.350 billion, and the underlying cost-income ratio was 68.7%.
Global Wealth Management net new assets reached USD 55.1 billion, with positive contributions from all regions. UBS also reported USD 12.5 billion in new commitments across its Unified Global Alternatives initiative in wealth and asset management. The common equity tier 1 ratio stood at 14.7% at the end of September.
Integration and capital returns
UBS said the Credit Suisse integration remains on track for substantial completion by year-end. Around 90% of the legacy applications in scope had been fully decommissioned by 30 September, while cumulative gross cost savings reached USD 13.2 billion. The bank now expects approximately USD 13.7 billion of savings by the end of 2026, above its previous ambition of approximately USD 13.5 billion.
The bank repurchased USD 1.8 billion of shares during the quarter and intends to complete its USD 3 billion program by the fourth-quarter results, subject to financial performance, its capital target and the Swiss regulatory debate. Reuters reported that the timetable was brought forward from the previously announced mid-2027 horizon.
Investors should weigh the earnings momentum against the bank's expectation of more typical seasonal moderation in transaction volumes during the fourth quarter. UBS also expects to end 2026 with a CET1 ratio at or close to 14%, including a potential accrual for the initial portion of intended 2027 buybacks.
