TUI CEO Sebastian Ebel expects holiday prices to rise in 2027, especially for Spain and Greece, while warning that the travel industry could see further consolidation. In comments reported by airliners.de on November 2, Ebel linked the outlook to fuel costs, consumer caution and changing booking patterns.
Higher prices in key destinations
Ebel said holidays would become more expensive if fuel prices remain elevated. He expects travelers heading to Spain or Greece to pay more, while Egypt, Bulgaria, Romania, Cape Verde and the Dominican Republic could remain more price-competitive.
The TUI chief also said families were booking later and checking their budgets more carefully. Customers who can travel outside school holidays, including in November or February, may find better prices, while less flexible travelers should book earlier.
Consolidation remains a sector theme
Ebel expects consolidation across parts of the hotel and airline industries if economic pressure persists. He does not anticipate major insolvencies that would reshape the market, instead pointing to actively driven mergers and structural changes.
For TUI, the comments underline the importance of destination mix, fuel-cost management and pricing discipline. Higher prices can support revenue per trip, but consumer caution may limit volumes or shift demand toward more affordable destinations. The interview does not set out a new company earnings target.
