- Tokyo Electron reported strong first-half growth as AI infrastructure investment lifted semiconductor equipment demand.
- The new fiscal 2027 plan calls for record sales and operating income, increasing the delivery burden for the second half.
- A share repurchase and higher dividend outlook add a capital-return element for investors.
Tokyo Electron lifted its fiscal 2027 outlook after reporting strong first-half growth on October 30, with demand for equipment used in AI servers and data centers supporting the Japanese semiconductor supplier. The results and outlook were reported by Investing.com on Yahoo Finance.
Strong First-Half Performance
Revenue for the six months through September rose 41.3 percent year over year to 1.67 trillion yen. Operating income advanced 67.2 percent to 506.78 billion yen, while net income attributable to shareholders increased 56 percent to 376.93 billion yen. The company said the first-half figures exceeded its previous forecasts, with revenue, operating income and attributable net income beating those targets.
Second-quarter net income attributable to shareholders increased 26.7 percent year over year to 104.78 billion yen. Quarterly revenue rose 20.9 percent to 588.50 billion yen, showing that the growth was not limited to the earlier part of the reporting period.
Higher Bar for Fiscal 2027
Tokyo Electron issued its first full-year forecast for the fiscal year ending in March 2027. The company expects revenue of 3.7 trillion yen, operating income of 1.169 trillion yen and net income attributable to shareholders of 865 billion yen. The operating-income target would place the company above the one-trillion-yen mark for the first time, according to the reported outlook.
The forecast reflects rising investment in AI servers and data-center infrastructure, as well as increased customer spending on semiconductor production equipment. That demand provides a supportive backdrop, but the second-half targets now represent the main execution test for the shares. Equipment deliveries, customer capacity expansion and the timing of installations will determine how much of the expected growth reaches reported earnings.
Buyback Adds Capital Return
The board also approved a share repurchase programme of up to 150 billion yen. Purchases may run from November 1, 2026, through March 31, 2027. The authorization gives investors an additional capital-return lever, although the maximum amount is not a promise that the full authorization will be used.
Tokyo Electron revised its year-end dividend forecast to 108 yen per share after the five-for-one stock split that took effect on October 1. On a pre-split basis, the expected year-end dividend is 540 yen per share, taking the projected full-year dividend to 955 yen including the interim payment.
