Teva shifts toward innovative medicines

Teva Pharmaceutical Industries reported its third-quarter results on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, highlighting a sharper shift toward innovative medicines. In its Teva investor-relations release, revenue for the quarter ended September 30 reached USD 4.395 billion, down 2% from the year-earlier period.

Branded medicines lead portfolio shift

AUSTEDO, AJOVY and UZEDY generated approximately USD 1.1 billion combined revenue, up 33% year over year in local currency. AUSTEDO revenue rose 21% to USD 751 million, AJOVY gained 61% to USD 269 million and UZEDY increased 96% to USD 85 million.

The branded portfolio helped lift Teva's non-GAAP gross margin to 58.7%, an increase of 345 basis points from the prior-year quarter. Non-GAAP diluted earnings per share rose to USD 0.86 from USD 0.78, while GAAP diluted earnings per share fell to USD 0.20 from USD 0.37.

Generic pressure remains material

Global generics revenue declined 16% in local currency, mainly because of increased U.S. competition for lenalidomide capsules, the generic version of Revlimid. U.S. generic-product revenue fell 39% to USD 718 million, partially offset by growth in biosimilars and recently launched products.

Teva said its biosimilars business is expected to exceed USD 0.8 billion in 2026 revenue, reaching its original 2027 objective one year early. The company also expanded its pipeline through additional collaborations with Samsung Bioepis.

Higher guidance sets next milestone

Teva raised its 2026 revenue outlook to USD 16.7 billion-17.0 billion from USD 16.5 billion-16.85 billion previously. The company now expects non-GAAP operating income of USD 3.8 billion-3.9 billion, non-GAAP diluted earnings per share of USD 1.92-2.11 and free cash flow of USD 2.1 billion-2.4 billion.

The outlook for AUSTEDO increased to USD 2.55 billion-2.65 billion, AJOVY to USD 930 million-960 million and UZEDY to USD 290 million-310 million. For investors, the figures point to stronger branded-medicine momentum, but the quarter also shows how exposed the generics business remains to price and volume pressure.

U.S. healthcare and pharmaceutical shares remain sensitive to developments in the S&P 500.
