- Target's recovery plan has reversed several recent sales trends under CEO Michael Fiddelke.
- Management has lifted its annual sales-growth outlook in three steps during 2026.
- Fiscal third-quarter results are scheduled for November 18 before the market opens.
Target stock is heading toward a November 18 earnings test after a year of improving sales expectations. An analysis published by Yahoo Finance says the retailer has reversed several negative trends under CEO Michael Fiddelke, while investors now face the more demanding holiday-season comparison.
According to the analysis, Target had suffered declining revenue in each of the three previous years before the 2026 recovery. Fiddelke, who took over earlier this year, introduced a four-pillar turnaround plan in February. The company has since moved its annual sales-growth outlook from 2 percent to 4 percent and then to 5 percent, according to the report.
Holiday demand will test recovery
The coming fiscal third-quarter report will show whether the improved sales momentum is holding before the most important shopping weeks of the year. The November 18 release is therefore the next clearly defined event for shareholders, with management's execution on traffic, merchandise and value central to the investment case.
The turnaround remains unfinished. Target is emerging from a prolonged period of weak sales, and the holiday season will put its product mix and pricing decisions under pressure. A stronger top-line trend can support operating leverage, but the earnings quality and durability of the improvement will matter more than a single quarter.
