Results Reflect Currency and Product Mix
Reported operating profit increased 60.4 percent to 406.7 billion yen. Takeda attributed part of the improvement to the end of amortization for VYVANSE intangible assets and lower impairment charges. Reported net profit rose 171.8 percent to 305.6 billion yen, while reported earnings per share reached 193 yen, compared with 72 yen in the prior-year period.
On Takeda's non-IFRS core measure, operating profit rose 11.2 percent at actual exchange rates to 710.6 billion yen and 0.7 percent at constant exchange rates. Core earnings per share increased 10.5 percent at actual exchange rates to 308 yen but declined 1.2 percent at constant exchange rates. Adjusted free cash flow fell to 325.7 billion yen from 525.4 billion yen.
Outlook Upgrade Rests On FX
Takeda raised its FY2026 revenue forecast to 4.7 trillion yen from 4.64 trillion yen. The core operating profit forecast increased to 1.19 trillion yen from 1.16 trillion yen, while the reported net profit forecast rose to 209.0 billion yen from 166.0 billion yen. Adjusted free cash flow guidance moved to a range of 700.0 billion yen to 800.0 billion yen from 650.0 billion yen to 750.0 billion yen.
The company said the upgrade mainly reflects foreign-exchange benefits. Its constant-exchange-rate framework still calls for a low-single-digit revenue decline, while the revised core operating profit guidance points to a mid-single-digit decline. That distinction matters for investors: the higher absolute forecast does not by itself signal stronger underlying top-line growth.
Launches Drive The Next Phase
Takeda said ORZEYFUL was approved in the United States, Japan and China for narcolepsy type 1 and became available in Japan and China on October 15. Its U.S. commercial launch remained subject to Drug Enforcement Administration scheduling. MIMRYLO launched in the United States in August for adults with polycythemia vera.
The company also said the U.S. Food and Drug Administration accepted zasocitinib for Priority Review, while the European Medicines Agency is reviewing the application. Takeda's late-stage pipeline and transformation program are intended to offset pressure from mature and off-patent products, although commercial execution and regulatory decisions remain important risks.
Investors can follow wider Japanese market developments through current Nikkei 225 market reports.
Takeda will host a Capital Markets Day in Tokyo on December 11, 2026. The event should give investors more detail on how new launches, pipeline milestones and transformation savings are intended to support growth beyond FY2026. More news and analyses on Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited stock.
