Record run meets the 50,000-point mark

The previous close was 49,712.04 points on October 5, when the TAIEX rose 2.55 percent, according to the Taiwan Stock Exchange. Taipei Times said the earlier rally was supported by technology shares after softer US jobs data reduced expectations of another Federal Reserve rate hike.
Trading resumes on Wednesday, October 7, 2026. Market attention is also turning to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing's upcoming earnings briefing, which Yuanta identified as a potential catalyst for technology shares.
