- Berenberg keeps its like-for-like premium-growth forecast unchanged while lowering its fee-growth assumption.
- The November 11 trading update will test whether recurring fees can offset weaker project contributions.
- The higher price target reflects support from the Telis acquisition and a more defensive view of Swiss insurers.
Swiss Life Holding is heading into its November 11 trading update with investors focused on the quality of fee income rather than headline growth alone. In an analysis published by Finimize, Berenberg keeps its like-for-like premium-growth forecast at 3 percent, matching the pace reported for the first half.
Recurring Fees Face A Test
Berenberg lowers its fee-growth forecast to 6 percent from 7 percent as one-off project fees fade. The shift puts more emphasis on recurring income from asset management and advisory activities, which is generally easier to model than irregular project contributions.
The change does not automatically weaken the investment case. A smaller contribution from lumpy project fees could make the earnings mix more predictable if recurring streams remain resilient. The November update will therefore offer investors a closer look at whether Swiss Life can maintain operating momentum while relying less on non-recurring income.
Target Rises Despite Lower Fees
Berenberg nevertheless raises its price target to 1,125 Swiss francs from 1,073 Swiss francs. Finimize links the more constructive view to the Telis acquisition and the defensive appeal of Swiss insurers. The bank also points to investor concerns about inflation and the concentration of risks around artificial-intelligence spending elsewhere in the market.
