Guidance cut changes the focus
Stryker's third-quarter net sales increased 7.7% to 6.5 billion US dollars, while organic sales also grew 7.7%. Reported net earnings fell 12.3% to 753 million US dollars, and diluted earnings per share declined 11.7% to 1.96 US dollars.
Adjusted net earnings rose 10.1% to about 1.4 billion US dollars, and adjusted diluted earnings per share increased 10.3% to 3.52 US dollars. The adjusted operating margin widened by 60 basis points to 26.2%, partly offsetting pressure in the reported figures. The quarter included a 293 million US dollar goodwill impairment.
According to Nasdaq, Stryker now expects 2026 organic sales growth of 6.5% to 7.0% and adjusted diluted earnings per share of 14.80 to 14.90 US dollars. The former ranges were 8.3% to 9.3% for organic sales growth and 14.95 to 15.10 US dollars for adjusted earnings per share.
Uneven segment growth raises execution pressure
MedSurg and Neurotechnology sales increased 9.2% to 3.7 billion US dollars, while Orthopaedics grew 5.7% to 2.9 billion US dollars. Management expects fourth-quarter organic growth to remain broadly comparable with the third quarter if procedure trends continue.
The revised outlook puts greater emphasis on demand in hip and knee procedures, capital-equipment execution and the resolution of operational constraints. The company has also highlighted margin discipline and product launches as supports for growth into 2027.
The Euro Stoxx 50 market environment provides the broader backdrop for European trading in Stryker stock.
