- STRABAG lifted its 2026 output and EBIT margin targets after a strong first half.
- The record order backlog provides visibility, but execution and seasonal effects remain important.
- The January-to-September trading statement is scheduled for November 12.
STRABAG enters the final stretch before its next operating update with a stronger outlook and a record order backlog. In its first-half 2026 earnings call on August 28, management said output volume reached EUR 10 billion, up 12% year over year, while the order backlog rose to EUR 36 billion. The figures were also highlighted by Yahoo Finance.
Higher targets meet a full order book
Management raised its 2026 output-volume outlook to close to EUR 23 billion from around EUR 22 billion previously. The guided EBIT margin range increased to 5.5% to 6%, compared with 5% to 5.5% before. Net investments remain capped at no more than EUR 1.5 billion.
The order backlog increased 27% from a year earlier and 15% from the end of 2025. Its ratio to output volume reached 1.6 years, giving STRABAG visibility into future activity well into 2028. Infrastructure demand in Germany and international markets, especially in mobility, energy and water, supported the development.
Profitability also improved in the interim period. First-half EBIT rose 35% to EUR 174 million, while EBITDA increased 30% to EUR 560 million. Management cautioned that seasonal effects mean the first-half EBIT margin is not representative of the expected full-year result. The call also noted that goodwill amortization related to a recent acquisition affected depreciation and amortization.
November statement becomes the next test
STRABAG's investor-relations calendar sets a quiet period from November 5 through November 11, followed by the trading statement for January through September 2026 on November 12. The update should give investors a fresh view of order intake, backlog conversion, construction activity and progress toward the raised annual targets. The schedule is published on the company's investor-relations page.
For shareholders, the record backlog improves visibility but does not remove execution risk. Investors will need to assess whether stronger volume translates into the targeted margin range while higher investment activity and acquisition integration continue. The company also faces the normal seasonal weighting of construction earnings.
