- Third-quarter revenue growth reached 32 percent, while free cash flow represented 22 percent of revenue.
- Management expects revenue to grow at a low-thirties rate in the fourth quarter.
- Gross profit is expected to grow at a high-twenties rate, keeping execution and margin conversion in focus.
Shopify reported strong third-quarter growth on November 3, 2026, but the holiday quarter will test whether the e-commerce platform can maintain that pace at a larger scale. In its financial results release, Shopify said revenue increased 32 percent year over year, also on a constant-currency basis.
The company generated gross merchandise volume of 119 billion US dollars during the quarter. President Harley Finkelstein said Shopify was expanding commerce across surfaces, agents and the broader web, while Chief Financial Officer Jeff Hoffmeister pointed to the combination of multiple growth drivers and a widening addressable market.
Holiday guidance keeps growth in focus
For the fourth quarter, Shopify expects revenue to grow at a low-thirties percentage rate from the year-earlier period. Gross profit dollars are forecast to increase at a high-twenties rate, a slower pace than revenue growth. Operating expenses are expected to equal 29 percent to 30 percent of revenue, while stock-based compensation is forecast at 155 million US dollars.
Free cash flow represented 22 percent of revenue in the third quarter. Shopify expects the fourth-quarter free cash flow margin to be consistent with the fourth quarter of 2025. The non-GAAP measure remains important for investors because it shows how much of the platform's expansion is converting into cash after operating and capital spending.
The real-time quote of Shopify stock was 135.57 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 14:02 CET on Thursday, November 5.
For shareholders, the central issue is not simply whether Shopify can continue to grow above 30 percent, but whether gross profit and cash generation can keep pace as the business expands. The fourth-quarter targets therefore put the focus on holiday demand, expense discipline and the conversion of sales growth into durable profitability.
