Drivers before the holiday
China's official manufacturing PMI rose to 50.1 in September from 49.8 in August, returning above the 50 threshold and matching the forecast. The non-manufacturing PMI reached 50.2, above the 49.3 forecast, according to InvestingLive.
The market advance was limited by positioning ahead of the National Day break. Vaccine, biological products and pharmaceutical shares led gains on September 30, while semiconductor and electronic chemicals stocks were among the decliners, Xinhua reported. A separate market summary said investors adopted a wait-and-see stance before the holiday.

Mainland Chinese markets are closed from October 1 through October 7 for the National Day holiday and are scheduled to reopen on October 8. The reopening date and the September 30 close were reported by Aju Press.
