- ServiceNow is conducting another round of layoffs affecting employees in the United States, the United Kingdom and India.
- Management is shifting resources toward AI-focused skills while targeting year-end headcount near the level at the start of 2026.
- Higher severance costs put near-term efficiency gains and execution under closer investor scrutiny.
ServiceNow is conducting another round of global layoffs as it reallocates resources toward artificial intelligence and operational efficiency. CTech reported on Friday, November 6 that employees in the United States, the United Kingdom and India are affected, while the company has not disclosed the number of positions involved.
Workforce Shift Raises Execution Stakes
ServiceNow said it is making structural changes, investing in AI-focused skills and managing headcount with the aim of ending 2026 at roughly the level at which the year began. The approach signals a change in workforce composition rather than a publicly announced target for reducing total employment.
The latest round adds pressure to a restructuring program that ServiceNow expects to be substantially completed during 2026. CTech reported that the company links slower hiring to AI-driven efficiency gains that it says exceed 1 billion US dollars on an annualized basis.
Severance Costs Keep Rising
Employee severance and related costs reached 87 million US dollars in the third quarter, compared with 24 million US dollars a year earlier, according to the report. The nine-month total rose to 167 million US dollars from 53 million US dollars, while cash payments related to severance reached 153 million US dollars.
The cost increase gives investors a near-term measure of the workforce transition. The potential benefit is higher productivity from automation and a sharper focus on strategic hiring; the risk is that restructuring expenses and execution demands weigh on growth before those gains become visible.
