Seagate Technology's balance-sheet progress and shareholder-return plans gained fresh investor attention on Tuesday, November 3, after the company retired additional debt following its record fiscal first quarter. Yahoo Finance reported that management expects buybacks to accelerate in calendar 2027, while rising component costs and the HAMR transition remain risks.
Seagate stock traded at 545.00 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 18:07 CET on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. That was 7.6271% below the 590.00-euro quote cited in the latest relevant own report published on November 2; the move is separate from any Xetra daily comparison.
Deleveraging opens capital-return options
According to Yahoo Finance, Seagate retired 1.2 billion US dollars of debt during fiscal first-quarter 2027, including its remaining convertible notes and about 1 billion US dollars of high-yield debt. Gross debt fell to about 2.4 billion US dollars, while a further 750 million US dollars of senior notes were retired after the quarter ended, reducing principal debt to about 1.6 billion US dollars.
The company generated 1.5 billion US dollars of free cash flow in the quarter and returned 568 million US dollars through dividends and repurchases. Its quarterly dividend rose nearly 3% to 0.76 US dollars per share, and 4.4 billion US dollars remained under the share-repurchase authorization at quarter-end.
Growth outlook meets execution risks
Management expects fiscal second-quarter revenue of 4.8 billion US dollars, plus or minus 100 million US dollars, and non-GAAP diluted earnings per share of 9.20 US dollars, plus or minus 0.20 US dollars. The outlook is supported by cloud storage demand and adoption of the HAMR-based Mozaic platform, while higher external component costs and the technology transition could pressure cash generation.
For investors, the stronger balance sheet gives Seagate more room to direct cash toward repurchases and dividends. The higher forecast also leaves execution, pricing and customer demand as important variables for the stock's next phase.
