Sea Limited is weighing a public listing for its financial-services arm Monee and plans to launch Sea Cloud, an AI-first enterprise platform, founder and Chief Executive Forrest Li said in an October 20 memo to employees. The plans broaden the Singapore-based group's growth agenda beyond Shopee, Garena and its existing financial-services operations.
Morningstar, carrying a Dow Jones report, said Li described Monee as approaching a position where it could operate independently. A listing, he said, could give the unit the resources and room to expand faster. Sea has not disclosed a valuation, offering size, exchange, ownership structure or timetable.
Monee offers a separate growth lever
Monee provides mobile wallets, payment processing, credit, banking and insurtech services across Southeast Asia and Latin America. Sea said in August that the unit's second-quarter revenue increased 59 percent from a year earlier to 1.4 billion US dollars. Li has described the business as still being at an early stage, with low credit penetration in its markets.
The proposed transaction could give investors a standalone view of a financial-services business that has grown within the Sea group. For Sea shareholders, the outcome would depend on the eventual listing terms, the amount of capital raised and Monee's ability to convert loan and payment growth into sustainable earnings. None of those terms has been announced.
Sea Cloud targets enterprise AI demand
Sea Cloud would commercialize infrastructure that Sea built over roughly a decade to support its e-commerce, gaming and financial-services businesses. Li said the company rebuilt the platform to power AI applications across the organization and that moving an AI idea into production had become materially faster than two years earlier.
The announcement does not yet specify Sea Cloud's products, pricing, investment requirements, launch schedule or initial customer markets. That leaves the initiative at an early strategic stage, while also exposing Sea to competition from established enterprise-cloud providers if the platform moves beyond internal use.
Sea Limited stock traded at 68.30 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 14:41 CET on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Sea's third-quarter results are due on November 10, giving investors the next scheduled opportunity to assess Monee's operating momentum and the resources Sea may allocate to its new cloud strategy.
