SDAX closes 1.11 percent higher after SGL Carbon joins

Drivers of the day
European equities received support from a decline in oil prices and lower 10-year U.S. Treasury yields. Brent crude traded below USD 100 a barrel after developments in Yemen reduced concerns about shipping through the Bab el Mandeb strait, while the 10-year U.S. yield fell 4 basis points to 5.27 percent, Tradegate BSX reported.
German August industrial orders fell more than 10 percent, but the decline was attributed to volatile large orders. Excluding those orders, the decline was 0.1 percent, according to economist Thomas Gitzel of VP Bank as cited by Tradegate BSX.
Index changes and single stocks
SGL Carbon joined the SDAX on October 6, replacing Wuestenrot & Wuerttembergische. The change had been announced for the start of trading on October 6 by finanzen.net.
SGL Carbon was among the strongest SDAX stocks, gaining 10.59 percent. ASTA Energy Solutions rose 6.92 percent, Medios added 5.44 percent, secunet Security Networks advanced 5.23 percent and JOST Werke gained 4.13 percent. Deutsche EuroShop fell 6.43 percent, while 1&1 declined 3.51 percent, according to finanzen.ch.
