Schaeffler confirmed its 2026 outlook on Tuesday, November 3, while announcing a restructuring programme that will cut 3,460 jobs across Europe. The figures and measures were reported by Yahoo Finance, citing Investing.com.

The plan affects 16 locations, including four German sites and one elsewhere in Europe. Around 2,660 positions are to be eliminated in Germany, while the company expects the measures to generate annual earnings improvements of about 300 million euros by 2030. One-off costs are estimated at about 480 million euros, with most of the charges expected in 2026.

Restructuring Targets And Costs

Schaeffler plans to implement the structural measures mainly in 2027 and 2028. About half of the affected positions are in production, 30 percent in research and development and 20 percent in other functions. A temporary voluntary pay reduction is also planned across the group.

The restructuring comes as the company seeks to offset weaker automotive demand, excess capacity and cost pressure. Schaeffler also expects growth areas such as humanoid robotics and defence to create jobs that partly offset reductions in its automotive business.

Nine-Month Performance

Revenue for the first nine months fell to 17.48 billion euros from 17.67 billion euros a year earlier. EBIT before special items rose 6.5 percent to 794 million euros, lifting the adjusted margin to 4.5 percent from 4.2 percent. Net income attributable to shareholders reached 11 million euros after a loss of 244 million euros in the prior-year period; the result included 201 million euros in special items.

Management retained its 2026 guidance for revenue of 22.50 billion to 24.50 billion euros, an EBIT margin before special items of 3.5 percent to 5.5 percent and free cash flow before mergers and acquisitions of 100 million to 300 million euros.
