Saudi Arabian Fertilizer stock is tied to SABIC Agri-Nutrients' final investment decision for a new ammonia and urea complex in Saudi Arabia. The project, reported by ALCHEMPro, includes an annual ammonia capacity of 1.2 million metric tons and urea capacity of 2.6 million metric tons. SABIC Agri-Nutrients approved the final investment decision on October 12, 2026, and awarded the engineering, procurement and construction contract to Samsung E&A.
Capacity expansion supports future growth
The project is designed to lift SABIC Agri-Nutrients' annual urea capacity from 4.8 million to 7.4 million metric tons, a 54 percent increase. It also includes a carbon-capture unit intended to reduce emissions intensity and support the company's longer-term sustainability objectives.
Commissioning is expected during the third quarter of 2030, with commercial production planned for the fourth quarter. The long lead time means the project's contribution to earnings will depend on construction progress, fertilizer prices, operating performance and logistics.
Parent group provides earnings context
The expansion is part of SABIC Agri-Nutrients' broader growth strategy. The parent group said its adjusted third-quarter result returned to profit from a loss in the previous quarter, while revenue and adjusted EBITDA increased quarter on quarter. Those group figures provide context but do not represent Saudi Arabian Fertilizer's standalone results.
For investors, the project adds a potential future production base, but the economic benefit remains dependent on execution and market conditions. The planned carbon-capture technology may also influence the complex's emissions profile and operating economics.
