Santander Bank Polska reported strong operating growth after the first nine months of 2026, with management presenting the business under the Erste Bank Polska brand at an earnings call on October 30. The bank's net profit reached PLN 3.691 billion for the period, while third-quarter profit stood at PLN 1.490 billion, according to the Yahoo Finance earnings-call transcript.

Revenue momentum remained broad. Net interest income totaled PLN 9.468 billion in the first three quarters, while net fee income reached PLN 2.182 billion. Third-quarter net interest income increased 6.5 percent from the previous quarter, helped by growth in both customer loans and deposits.

Loans And Deposits Expand

Customer deposits reached PLN 252 billion at the end of September, up 14 percent from a year earlier. Customer funds rose 15 percent to PLN 287 billion, and gross loans increased 11 percent to PLN 183 billion. Total assets grew 4 percent to PLN 340 billion.

Business activity also accelerated in selected customer segments. The bank granted PLN 12.1 billion in cash loans during the first nine months, including PLN 4 billion in the third quarter, up 20 percent year on year. Mortgage originations reached PLN 11.7 billion. In the small and medium-sized enterprise business, the loan portfolio reached PLN 4.8 billion, an increase of 22 percent, while the customer base grew 17 percent to more than 657,000.

The growth came with additional spending. Operating costs reached PLN 4.4 billion after nine months, driven mainly by rebranding, integration and higher contributions to the Bank Guarantee Fund. Rebranding costs totaled PLN 226 million, while integration costs amounted to PLN 158 million. The cost-to-income ratio was 36.1 percent, or 29.3 percent excluding integration, rebranding and Bank Guarantee Fund costs.

Management Sets 2027 Focus

Management said loan growth should continue in 2027, potentially at a high-single-digit or double-digit rate. The bank plans to focus on individual customers, consumer lending and the SME segment. Executives also indicated a cost-of-risk range of 30 to 40 basis points for the next quarter and 2027, subject to the macroeconomic environment.

Credit quality remained a central investor consideration. The non-performing-loan ratio stood at 3.4 percent after the third quarter, while the average cost of risk was 30 basis points. Management described the loan portfolio as resilient and said it had not identified material deterioration in its sub-portfolios.

For investors, the results combine strong balance-sheet expansion with near-term spending on the new brand and integration. The planned continuation of investments in 2027 could limit operating leverage, but management expects costs to rise moderately and below inflation. The ongoing Erste ownership transaction remains an additional factor for the share's outlook, with the tender offer subscription period scheduled to run through November.
