Samsung Electronics stock faces an earnings test on October 8 2026
Published on 10/06/2026 at 16:34 | Editorial responsibility: Rafael Müller, Editor-in-Chief AD HOC NEWSSamsung Electronics Co. Ltd. (ISIN KR7005930003) was last at KRW 272,000 on the Korea Exchange on October 6, 2026, down 1.45 percent, as investors positioned for the company's preliminary third-quarter results. The release is scheduled for October 8, according to Seoul Economic Daily.
October 8 brings the earnings test
The date matters because the market is looking for Samsung to show whether its memory-chip business can convert AI demand into a record quarter. Investing.com reported on October 6 that Goldman Sachs sees a convergence of preliminary results, semiconductor ETF rebalancing, options expiry and the end of the buyback program on October 8.
That combination creates a sharper near-term test than the earnings figure alone. Samsung shares fell 1.45 percent on October 6, while the preliminary report remained the central company event for the Korean market.
Q2 profits set a high comparison
Samsung reported Q2 2026 revenue of KRW 171.5 trillion, up from KRW 133.9 trillion in Q1 2026, while operating profit rose to KRW 89.5 trillion from KRW 57.2 trillion, according to ATS View. The sequential revenue increase was 28.1 percent, calculated from the reported quarterly figures.
Q2 net income stood at KRW 71.6 trillion and the reported operating margin was 52.2 percent, giving the October 8 update a demanding benchmark. The figures also show why memory pricing and high-bandwidth memory shipments have become central to the market's earnings debate.
Goldman cuts its estimate but stays bullish
Goldman Sachs estimates Q3 2026 operating profit at KRW 106 trillion, broadly matching a KRW 105.5 trillion consensus, according to Investing.com on October 6. The bank reduced its estimate from KRW 112 trillion, a 5.4 percent cut, while expecting HBM bit shipments to grow close to 50 percent quarter over quarter.
The comparison is important for investors: the forecast remains above KRW 100 trillion, yet the revision shows that currency effects and market positioning can offset part of the memory-cycle benefit. Samsung therefore enters the results date with high earnings expectations and a lower estimate than Goldman previously published.
