- Safran.AI plans its first international subsidiary in Singapore to develop industrial artificial intelligence for aerospace and maintenance applications.
- Hiring is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2027, while the operation is planned to reach about 50 employees within five years.
- The initiative adds a digital and workforce-development element to Safran's established Southeast Asian aerospace presence.
Safran is planning its first international Safran.AI subsidiary in Singapore, adding an artificial-intelligence project to its Southeast Asian aerospace operations. Safran and the Singapore Economic Development Board signed the memorandum of understanding on Thursday, October 29, according to the Singapore Economic Development Board.
Singapore becomes an AI base
The planned Safran.AI Singapore unit will establish a Centre of Excellence for industrial artificial intelligence. Its initial focus is the automation of digital inspections supporting maintenance, repair and overhaul activities for Safran, its partners and customers.
The subsidiary is also intended to support research and innovation through Singapore's engineering talent, academic institutions and technology ecosystem. It will serve Safran.AI customers across the ASEAN region.
Hiring starts in early 2027
Recruitment of data scientists and AI engineers is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2027. Safran expects the new entity to grow to about 50 employees over the following five years.
The plan extends Safran's existing presence in Singapore rather than opening a new country market. Safran has operated there for more than 45 years and employs about 900 people across five production, engineering and maintenance sites, according to the company announcement.
The announcement does not include an investment amount, revenue target or earnings forecast. Its near-term contribution to group results therefore remains unquantified, while the strategic rationale is to combine regional aerospace activity with industrial AI development.
Safran stock traded at 284.75 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 17:50 CET on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. The real-time quote of Safran stock is available separately.
