Royal Bank of Canada announced enhanced cash-back terms for two Mastercard products on Monday, November 2, 2026, according to a Yahoo Finance report carrying a CNW press release. The changes affect the RBC Cash Back Mastercard and the RBC Cash Back Preferred World Elite Mastercard.
More rewards across daily spending
The standard card offers unlimited 2 percent cash back on groceries, 1 percent on gas, electric-vehicle charging, rideshare and transit, and 0.5 percent on other net purchases. The Preferred World Elite card offers unlimited 3 percent cash back on groceries, dining, gas, electric-vehicle charging, transit, rideshare, streaming and digital gaming, plus 1 percent on other net purchases.
RBC said the new earning structures took effect automatically on October 1, 2026. Starting in December, customers will be able to redeem balances through RBC Online Banking or the RBC Mobile app once they reach 1 Canadian dollar. The Preferred World Elite card carries an annual fee of 120 Canadian dollars for the primary cardholder, while the standard Cash Back Mastercard has no annual fee.
AI access remains restricted
The week also kept RBC's digital-security policy in focus. Global News reported on October 28 that RBC had decided to block third-party personal AI agents from direct access to authenticated RBC digital properties, including online banking. Customers can continue to use the bank's website, mobile app and own digital tools.
