UBS upgraded Ross Stores from Neutral to Buy on Monday, October 26, and lifted its price target to 315 US dollars from 239 US dollars, according to CNBC. Analyst Jay Sole said the bank expects recent same-store sales momentum to continue beyond the current year.
UBS sees CEO James Conroy as a potential driver of better store economics. The bank pointed to merchandising, marketing and in-store operations as levers that could help Ross narrow its productivity gap with TJ Maxx.
Expansion adds to growth plans
Ross Stores opened 51 locations across 17 states in September and October, completing its 2026 store growth plan. The additions included 41 Ross Dress for Less stores and 10 dd's DISCOUNTS locations.
The store rollout brings the company to approximately 2,377 locations across 45 states, the District of Columbia, Guam and Puerto Rico. The expansion broadens the physical footprint while management works to improve productivity at existing stores.
