Britain and Rolls-Royce agreed a framework on Wednesday, October 28, for a joint 10-year programme to develop next-generation jet-engine technology. The agreement targets narrowbody aircraft and defence applications and supports the company's effort to return to the high-volume single-aisle market.
Reuters reported that the framework covers GBP 2.5 billion in government support and is expected to support 3,300 jobs. Funding remains subject to legal, affordability and approval processes, so the agreement is not presented as a completed grant.
Marine services add recurring support
Rolls-Royce also announced on October 28 that selected mtu Series 2000 M96 marine recreational engines can receive extended coverage of up to 18 years. Eligible engines can receive overhaul intervals of up to 12,000 hours, strengthening the service proposition for new and existing vessel owners.
The company is scheduled to publish its next trading update at 7:00 GMT on Thursday, November 12, according to its investor relations calendar.
