Repsol (ISIN ES0173516115) closed at EUR 29.03 on BME on October 2, 2026, down 2.62 percent from the previous session. The latest signal from the company is a September 30 update on transactions under its 2026 share buyback program, published on its investor relations page.
Buybacks meet stronger earnings
Repsol's second-quarter revenue reached EUR 18.33 billion for the period ending June 30, 2026, compared with EUR 13.53 billion a year earlier. According to Markets Insider, net profit reached EUR 1.27 billion, versus EUR 237 million in the comparable quarter, an increase of 435.9 percent.
The earnings comparison gives the buyback activity more weight for investors: cash generation and shareholder returns are being assessed against a materially higher quarterly profit base. Repsol's finance data also show operating profit of EUR 2.40 billion in Q2/2026 and operating cash flow of EUR 1.94 billion for the quarter.
Analysts raise the valuation bar
HSBC raised its Repsol price target to EUR 37 from EUR 29 on September 25 and retained a Buy rating, citing higher earnings estimates. Markets Insider reports that HSBC also lifted its Brent oil assumption for 2026 to USD 90 per barrel from USD 80.
Berenberg raised its target to EUR 37.50 from EUR 31 on September 14 and kept a Buy recommendation, according to Expansion. The target is 29.2 percent above the October 2 closing price, using the same EUR currency.
Stock stays below yearly high
At EUR 29.03, Repsol remained EUR 2.61 below its 52-week high of EUR 31.64 and EUR 15.07 above its 52-week low of EUR 13.96 on October 2, 2026. The session range was EUR 28.86 to EUR 29.93, giving the daily decline a clear market context after the stock's strong annual advance.
