PVA TePla stock gains as record orders point to recovery

- PVA TePla's nine-month order intake reached a record level, led by strong demand in Metrology.
- Third-quarter profitability improved from the second quarter, although nine-month EBITDA remained below the prior-year level.
- Management expects stronger fourth-quarter revenue and earnings and sees faster growth from 2027.
PVA TePla stock traded at 27.01 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 11:32 CET on Friday, November 6, 1.54 percent above the Xetra close of Thursday, November 5. The move followed the company's nine-month report, which showed record order intake but weaker year-to-date profitability. PVA TePla reported the figures on Thursday, November 5, in an EQS News release.
Record Orders Meet Uneven Profitability
Order intake rose 55 percent year over year to 273.4 million euros in the first nine months of 2026, compared with 176.5 million euros a year earlier. The book-to-bill ratio increased to 1.50 from 1.01. Third-quarter order intake reached 86.7 million euros, up from 72.8 million euros in the prior-year quarter.
Metrology was the main growth driver. Its nine-month order intake advanced 76 percent to 148.4 million euros, representing 54 percent of the group total. Material Solutions also grew, with order intake rising 36 percent to 125.0 million euros. Management said it expects the company to achieve its highest annual order intake in history.
Revenue increased 4 percent to 181.8 million euros in the first nine months. Third-quarter revenue grew 12 percent to 62.7 million euros, with Metrology revenue rising to 35.6 million euros from 24.4 million euros. Material Solutions revenue declined to 27.1 million euros from 31.4 million euros, reflecting the segment's lower capacity utilization.
Quarterly Margins Show Improvement
Profitability remained mixed. Nine-month gross profit fell to 52.9 million euros from 56.3 million euros, while the gross margin decreased to 29.1 percent from 32.1 percent. EBITDA dropped to 10.4 million euros from 18.7 million euros, and the EBITDA margin declined to 5.7 percent from 10.7 percent.
The quarterly trend was more positive. Third-quarter EBITDA rose to 6.0 million euros from 3.0 million euros in the second quarter, lifting the margin to 9.6 percent. Gross margin improved to 30.8 percent, above the prior-year quarter's 29.4 percent. PVA TePla attributed the nine-month pressure to lower capacity utilization, strategic development costs, upfront expenses and one-off effects of approximately 5 million euros in the first half.
Fourth Quarter Sets Next Test
Management confirmed its 2026 revenue forecast of 255 million to 275 million euros and expects EBITDA at the lower end of the original 26 million to 31 million euro range. The company expects higher revenue, a better product mix and stronger fixed-cost coverage to lift gross margin and operating earnings in the fourth quarter.
For investors, the report presents a sharper contrast between demand and current earnings quality: the order pipeline is expanding rapidly, while Material Solutions still weighs on utilization and margins. Management expects a noticeable acceleration in revenue growth and profitability from 2027, making the fourth-quarter delivery and the conversion of orders into sales key watch points.
