Philips reported stronger orders and profitability for the third quarter on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Comparable order intake rose 8 percent and comparable sales increased 3 percent, according to AktienCheck.

Orders and margins improve

Group sales reached EUR 4.39 billion, while adjusted EBITA increased to EUR 569 million from EUR 531 million a year earlier. The adjusted EBITA margin rose 0.7 percentage points to 13.0 percent, supported by productivity measures and improved gross margin.

Personal Health led the operating performance with comparable sales growth of 8 percent and an adjusted EBITA margin of 17.7 percent. Connected Care sales rose 5 percent, with its margin reaching 13.3 percent. Diagnosis & Treatment posted flat comparable sales, although its adjusted EBITA margin improved to 12.3 percent.

Legal provision limits reported profit

Philips recorded a EUR 288 million provision after reaching an agreement in principle with the US Department of Justice over previously disclosed criminal and civil investigations linked to the Respironics recall. Payment is expected in the first quarter of 2027, subject to final documentation. Other proceedings, including an investigation by US state attorneys general, remain outside the settlement.

The provision reduced third-quarter net income to EUR 28 million from EUR 187 million and operating income to EUR 165 million from EUR 330 million. At the same time, operating cash flow reached EUR 544 million and free cash flow EUR 384 million.

2026 outlook remains unchanged

Management maintained its targets for comparable sales growth of 3 to 4.5 percent, an adjusted EBITA margin of 13.5 to 14.0 percent and free cash flow of EUR 1.5 to 1.7 billion. The margin outlook includes an expected benefit of about 1 percentage point from US tariff refunds, while the cash flow target includes a net benefit of about EUR 200 million.

AktienCheck reported that Bernstein Research kept its market perform rating and EUR 23.40 price target after the results. The assessment recognizes the operational improvement but points to valuation and continuing legal risks.
