PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna's investment case is entering a more demanding phase after a sharp improvement in quarterly profitability. In an analysis published on November 2, 2026, Simply Wall St said the company had moved from a PLN 9.606 billion net loss in the second quarter of 2025 to a PLN 2.015 billion net profit in the second quarter of 2026. Revenue increased from PLN 13.804 billion to PLN 15.263 billion.
The analysis also points to a valuation tension. Its earlier bullish scenario had assigned a notional fair value of PLN 32.54, based on assumptions including 15.0 percent revenue growth, a 15.0 percent profit margin and a future price-to-earnings ratio of 5.0 times. A more cautious scenario published later placed fair value at PLN 6.50. With PGE at PLN 16.30 in the analysis, the current market price sits above that lower estimate.
Execution Becomes The Main Test
For investors, the central question is whether PGE can convert its transition program into durable earnings. Simply Wall St highlights spending on offshore wind, gas and power grids, alongside exposure to financing costs, tariff decisions, coal-support mechanisms and European carbon rules. The profitability recovery supports the more constructive case, but the analysis cautions that one quarter does not establish a lasting 15.0 percent margin.
