Petrobras set a quarterly production record as new offshore units lifted output in the third quarter of 2026. World Oil reported on October 29 that Petrobras produced 3.512 million barrels of oil equivalent per day, an increase of 11.7 percent from the third quarter of 2025 and 5.3 percent from the second quarter of 2026.

Offshore platforms lift output

Petrobras attributed the increase to its highest production efficiency in eight years, the ramp-up of the P-78 and P-79 floating production, storage and offloading units at Búzios, and peak production from the Alexandre de Gusmão FPSO at Mero. Lower losses from maintenance shutdowns also supported the quarter.

Total operated production, including volumes owned by partners, reached a record 5.08 million boe per day. Operated pre-salt production rose to 4.46 million boe per day, while Petrobras' own pre-salt oil output increased 6.7 percent from the previous quarter to 2.454 million barrels per day. Twelve new producing wells started up during the quarter.

At Mero, Alexandre de Gusmão reached its design capacity of 180,000 barrels per day in August and a peak of 190,000 barrels per day in September. The Sepetiba FPSO reached a daily peak of 212,000 barrels, while the Almirante Tamandaré platform at Búzios set a monthly record of 263,000 barrels per day in July.

Refining remains near full capacity

Downstream operations also ran at a high level. Refinery utilization averaged 99 percent in the third quarter, and product output reached 1.873 million barrels per day. Diesel production set a quarterly record of 769,000 barrels per day. The associated gas utilization index reached a record 98.3 percent.

Petrobras stock traded at 17.68 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 14:38 CET on Thursday, November 5, 2026. Investors can follow the real-time quote of Petrobras stock.

Next platforms point to 2027

The P-80 and P-82 platforms left the shipyard in Singapore in September and October and are scheduled to begin operations at Búzios in 2027. Each unit is designed for 225,000 barrels per day of oil production and 12 million cubic meters per day of gas compression. For investors, the ramp-up keeps Petrobras' offshore expansion central to the operating outlook, while execution and maintenance remain key factors for production consistency.
