The Côte d’Ivoire exploration deal
Reuters reported that Petrobras signed the contracts with Côte d’Ivoire and its state energy company Petroci for eight offshore exploratory blocks. The agreement gives Petrobras a 90 percent operating stake in each block, while Petroci retains 10 percent, the report said. Reuters described the areas as being on Africa’s equatorial margin and linked the agreement to Petrobras’ strategy of replenishing reserves through new exploration frontiers.
Petrobras will operate the blocks through its wholly owned subsidiary Petrobras Netherlands B.V., according to World Oil. The contracts cover blocks CI-513, CI-600, CI-601, CI-602, CI-603, CI-605, CI-701 and CI-702.
