Panasonic Holdings raised its fiscal 2027 outlook after reporting record second-quarter profit on October 30, 2026. The company said demand linked to AI infrastructure and data centers exceeded expectations, while higher battery production in North America strengthened the Energy business.

Investing.com, citing Reuters, reported that second-quarter sales rose 8 percent year over year to 2,073.6 billion Japanese yen. Adjusted operating profit reached 213.2 billion yen, while operating profit rose to 180.7 billion yen. Net profit attributable to stockholders more than doubled to 141.8 billion yen.

Guidance Moves Higher

Panasonic lifted fiscal 2027 sales guidance by 600 billion yen to 8,400 billion yen. Adjusted operating profit guidance increased by 130 billion yen to 780 billion yen, and operating profit guidance rose by 120 billion yen to 710 billion yen. Net profit guidance was raised by 90 billion yen to 540 billion yen.

The revised adjusted operating profit target would allow Panasonic to reach its fiscal 2029 goal of more than 750 billion yen two years ahead of schedule, according to the Investing.com account. The annual dividend forecast also rose to 70 yen per share from 54 yen.

Management raised its fiscal 2029 AI-infrastructure sales target to 1.6 trillion yen from 1.38 trillion yen. Industry AI-related sales reached 88.6 billion yen in the quarter, 1.6 times the prior-year level, and the full-year forecast for that business increased by 50 billion yen to 360 billion yen.

Energy Adds Battery Momentum

Energy segment sales increased 46 percent year over year to 331.9 billion yen, while adjusted operating profit rose to 56.7 billion yen. The quarterly improvement reflected higher output at North American vehicle-battery plants and stronger demand for energy-storage systems serving data centers.

Data-center-related Energy sales reached 114.9 billion yen in the quarter, also 1.6 times the prior-year level. Panasonic kept its full-year North American vehicle-battery shipment target at 46 gigawatt-hours, with production expected to rise at its Kansas and Nevada facilities.

The outlook remains exposed to raw-material inflation, execution risks from capacity expansion and possible delays in data-center construction. The company expects second-half adjusted operating profit of 380.4 billion yen, implying a slower pace than the first half but continued growth.
