Panasonic raises outlook on AI demand

  • Panasonic lifted fiscal 2027 operating profit guidance after stronger demand for AI infrastructure and data-center products.
  • The Energy segment benefited from higher North American vehicle-battery output and rising demand for data-center storage.
  • Execution, capacity expansion, raw-material costs and the timing of data-center projects remain key factors for investors.

Panasonic Holdings raised its fiscal 2027 outlook on October 30, 2026, after reporting results for the quarter ended September 30. The company linked the upgrade to stronger-than-expected demand for AI infrastructure and adjacent products.

According to the Panasonic Newsroom, consolidated sales for the first half of fiscal 2027 reached 4,092.5 billion Japanese yen. Operating profit rose to 363.2 billion yen, while net income attributable to owners of the parent reached 277.0 billion yen.

Guidance moves higher

Panasonic increased full-year sales guidance by 600 billion yen to 8,400 billion yen. Adjusted operating profit guidance rose by 130 billion yen to 780 billion yen, and operating profit guidance increased by 120 billion yen to 710 billion yen. Net profit guidance was raised by 90 billion yen to 540 billion yen.

The revised adjusted operating profit target would bring Panasonic's fiscal 2029 goal of more than 750 billion yen forward by two years. Management also raised its fiscal 2029 AI-infrastructure sales target to 1.6 trillion yen from 1.38 trillion yen.

Energy adds battery momentum

Energy segment sales increased 46 percent year over year to 331.9 billion yen in the second quarter. Adjusted operating profit reached 56.7 billion yen as North American vehicle-battery production increased and demand for energy-storage systems at data centers strengthened. Data-center-related Energy sales reached 114.9 billion yen.

The higher targets raise the importance of execution in battery capacity expansion and AI-related components. Raw-material inflation and possible delays in data-center construction remain risks to the pace of delivery.
