- PACCAR increased third-quarter revenue by 19 percent and net income by 44 percent year over year.
- Record PACCAR Parts revenue and higher truck margins supported the quarterly result.
- Management expects fourth-quarter deliveries of 41,000 to 43,000 trucks and gross margins of 14 to 15 percent.
PACCAR Inc. reported stronger third-quarter results on October 27, with revenue growth, higher truck margins and record parts sales supporting earnings. The company said in its release that net income rose to 847.5 million US dollars from 590.0 million US dollars a year earlier, while revenue increased to 7.94 billion US dollars from 6.67 billion US dollars. The PACCAR earnings release attributes the profit increase to higher truck segment margins and strong overall business performance.
Margins and parts drive earnings
Third-quarter diluted earnings per share were 1.61 US dollars, compared with 1.12 US dollars in the prior-year quarter. Global truck deliveries increased to 40,100 units from 31,900, while truck revenue climbed to 5.60 billion US dollars from 4.38 billion US dollars.
PACCAR Parts generated record quarterly revenue of 1.78 billion US dollars, up from 1.72 billion US dollars. Parts pretax profit was 404.4 million US dollars, compared with 410.0 million US dollars a year earlier. PACCAR Financial Services contributed 138.1 million US dollars of pretax profit, up from 126.2 million US dollars.
Management said customer demand remains strong, although supplier capacity constrained production during the quarter. The company expects suppliers to support higher industry build rates in the fourth quarter. Fourth-quarter truck deliveries are expected to reach 41,000 to 43,000 units, compared with 40,100 in the third quarter. Truck, Parts and Other gross margin is projected at 14 to 15 percent after reaching 14.5 percent in the third quarter.
Demand outlook extends into 2027
PACCAR estimates the US and Canadian Class 8 truck market at 240,000 to 260,000 vehicles in 2026 and expects 240,000 to 280,000 vehicles in 2027. The company cited fleet replacement, economic growth and infrastructure investment as supporting factors. European above-16-ton truck registrations are expected at 300,000 to 320,000 vehicles in both 2026 and 2027.
The company also plans capital expenditure of 650 million to 700 million US dollars and research and development spending of 440 million to 460 million US dollars in 2026. For investors, the next test is whether supplier availability allows PACCAR to convert demand into higher deliveries without eroding the strong truck margins. The company is also preparing PACCAR Connect for Kenworth and Peterbilt Class 8 trucks from early 2027.
