Oracle stock faces a costly test after its AI funding push

Oracle stock enters a costly AI expansion phase as new funding terms sharpen the test for future cash generation. Cash flow remains the key milestone.

Oracle's Funding Test Takes Shape

  • Oracle targets at least 225 billion US dollars in fiscal 2030 revenue and positive free cash flow in the second half of fiscal 2028.
  • The planned funding package adds equity dilution and fixed interest costs before the AI expansion is expected to generate stronger cash flow.
  • Investors will focus on capital spending, cloud demand and the transition to self-funded growth from fiscal 2029.

Oracle's AI expansion is entering a more concrete financing phase. The company has set a long-term growth target, but investors must now weigh the cost of the capital supporting the build-out against the cash flow management expects later in the decade.

At its Investor Day in Las Vegas on October 28, Oracle said it expects total revenue of at least 225 billion US dollars in fiscal 2030, representing annual growth of more than 35 percent from fiscal 2026. The company's Investor Day release also set a target of at least 30 billion US dollars in free cash flow for fiscal 2029.

Funding Costs Raise The Bar

The new financing terms make the execution hurdle more visible. The equity was priced at 116 US dollars, while the debt portion comprises five fixed-rate tranches with coupons ranging from 7.000 percent to 8.650 percent and maturities between 2029 and 2046. Existing shareholders face dilution from the equity, while the bonds create fixed interest obligations.

Oracle has said additional capital-market funding for the fiscal 2027-to-2030 investment cycle will be limited to 20 billion US dollars, excluding refinancing. Management expects capital spending to peak in fiscal 2027 and fiscal 2028, before declining in fiscal 2029. Growth is expected to become self-funded from fiscal 2029.

Cash Flow Is The Next Checkpoint

Oracle stock traded at 114.06 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 16:13 CET on Wednesday, November 4, 2026. The real-time quote of Oracle stock is available separately.

The investment case therefore depends on execution rather than financing access alone. The main markers are the expected spending peak, positive free cash flow in the second half of fiscal 2028 and the planned fiscal 2029 cash-flow level.
