Texas project enters ERCOT process
NRG said the proposed natural gas project would support a Texas data center development and pair 1.20 GW of dispatchable capacity with new data center load. The company said the approach would avoid drawing on existing grid resources and could deliver local benefits, including more than 1,000 construction and operational jobs and new tax revenue for local governments and school districts.
The project’s inclusion in Batch Zero is conditional on applicable ERCOT requirements. NRG said the project must proceed through additional study, verification and interconnection steps.
