Hotwire Communications has selected Nokia to deploy a next-generation IP network in North Carolina, giving the Finnish network supplier a concrete customer use case for AI-ready infrastructure. Nokia announced the project on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, in a press release.

Network project targets lower complexity

Hotwire plans to use Nokia's 7750 Service Router to combine IP routing and optical capabilities in a simplified architecture. Nokia said the design is intended to reduce the number of network elements that traffic must cross, supporting lower latency and improved application performance.

The project is aimed at residential broadband, enterprise connectivity and emerging artificial intelligence workloads. Nokia also said the architecture should reduce device count, operational complexity, power consumption and cooling requirements.

Early 2027 marks the next milestone

Hotwire expects the upgraded network to go live in early 2027. The announcement does not disclose contract value, equipment volumes, transmission capacity, network locations or expected operating cost savings, so the immediate financial contribution to Nokia remains unquantified.
