Nokia stock faces a fresh AI-network demand signal after the company published its 2035 traffic outlook. The forecast is not a customer order.

AI traffic reshapes network demand

  • Nokia forecasts that AI will drive 44 percent of global network traffic by 2035.
  • Physical AI could send more than 90 percent of its traffic through network uplinks.
  • The outlook points to demand for low-latency and distributed infrastructure, but it is not a customer order.

Nokia published a new Global Network Traffic Report on Wednesday, November 4, outlining how artificial intelligence could reshape network infrastructure through 2035. The company forecasts that global traffic will nearly quadruple to 3,789 exabytes per month, with AI accounting for 44 percent, according to Nokia.

Nokia stock traded at 7.42 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 17:13 CET on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, 2.88 percent below the Xetra close of Tuesday, November 3, at 7.64 euros. The quote was 4.87 percent below the 7.80 euros cited in the previous report at 11:45 CET on November 4, making the move since that report the latest change for investors to monitor.

AI raises the need for uplinks

The forecast describes a shift away from networks built mainly for downloads. Nokia expects physical AI applications, including robots and vehicles, to generate more than 90 percent of their traffic through uplinks by 2035. Agentic AI traffic is projected to reach 160 times its 2026 level, while physical AI traffic is expected to reach 105 times that level.

The company also expects network processing to become more distributed. Edge and metro-core infrastructure could serve 36 percent of all AI-native traffic by 2035 as lower latency, more efficient models and data-sovereignty requirements push intelligence closer to users and connected devices.

Forecast still needs commercial conversion

The outlook supports Nokia's focus on connectivity infrastructure for AI applications, including radio, fixed, IP, optical, core and data-center networks. It remains a company forecast rather than a financial commitment or customer order, so the investment case depends on operators turning higher traffic and uplink requirements into spending.
