Murata Manufacturing raised its full-year outlook on October 30, 2026, after stronger demand for data-center components helped drive record first-half revenue and operating profit. The company presented the results for the six months ended September 30 in its earnings release conference materials.
Revenue increased 20.8 percent year over year to 1.0908 trillion yen, while operating profit rose 48.9 percent to 245.9 billion yen. Murata attributed the improvement mainly to higher production output, stronger capacity utilization and the positive effect of a weaker yen, despite lower product prices, rising material costs and higher fixed expenses.
Forecast upgrade raises the stakes
Murata lifted its fiscal-year revenue forecast to 2.26 trillion yen from 2.11 trillion yen. The operating-profit target increased to 520 billion yen from 430 billion yen, while the forecast for profit attributable to owners of the parent rose to 396 billion yen from 338 billion yen.
Data-center-related revenue reached 164.9 billion yen in the first half, up 101.8 percent year over year. Computer-related revenue increased 61.2 percent to 235.1 billion yen, while capacitor revenue rose 33.1 percent to 605.6 billion yen. Murata expects demand for data-center components, especially products used in AI servers, to support further growth.
The company raised its fiscal-year capital-expenditure forecast to 270 billion yen from 255 billion yen. It also plans about 1 trillion yen of investment from fiscal 2026 through fiscal 2030 to expand global production capacity for multilayer ceramic capacitors. The first-half operating-profit bridge included net one-time effects of 2.0 billion yen, including a 4.0 billion yen benefit from U.S. tariff refunds and a 2.0 billion yen loss from a canceled power-module project.
