Mondel?z International reported third-quarter results on Thursday, October 29, showing renewed volume momentum and higher adjusted earnings. In the company release carried by GlobeNewswire, Mondel?z said net revenue reached 9.967 billion US dollars, up 2.3 percent from the prior-year quarter.

Organic net revenue increased 2.1 percent, supported by a 1.8 percentage-point contribution from volume and mix and 0.3 percentage points from pricing. Emerging markets led the regional picture, with organic growth of 4.1 percent, while developed markets grew 0.8 percent. Latin America delivered 6.9 percent organic growth and Asia, Middle East and Africa rose 7.7 percent. Europe declined 2.1 percent organically.

Margins Expand As Costs Ease

Reported gross profit rose to 3.924 billion US dollars, lifting the gross margin to 39.4 percent. The company attributed the sharp reported improvement mainly to a favorable year-over-year change in mark-to-market effects from commodity and foreign-currency derivatives. Adjusted gross profit increased 14.0 percent at constant currency, with the adjusted margin expanding 3.8 percentage points to 34.2 percent.

Adjusted operating income grew 17.0 percent at constant currency, and the adjusted operating margin widened 1.9 percentage points to 13.9 percent. Mondel?z said lower raw-material and manufacturing costs, productivity gains, higher pricing and favorable volume/mix supported the improvement, while higher selling, general and administrative expenses and brand investment offset part of the benefit.

Reported diluted earnings per share rose 78.9 percent to 1.02 US dollars. The increase reflected, among other factors, more favorable derivative effects and acquisition-related items compared with the prior year. Adjusted earnings per share increased 5.5 percent on a constant-currency basis to 0.78 US dollars, helped by operating gains and a lower share count but restrained by higher tax, interest and other expenses.

Outlook Holds Despite Volatility

Management reaffirmed its 2026 outlook for organic net revenue growth of at least 2 percent and adjusted EPS growth between zero and 5 percent on a constant-currency basis. Free cash flow is expected to reach approximately 3 billion US dollars. The company cited geopolitical, trade, regulatory and commodity-price volatility as continuing sources of uncertainty.

Through the first nine months, Mondel?z generated 2.606 billion US dollars in operating cash flow and 1.7 billion US dollars in free cash flow, while returning 2.8 billion US dollars through dividends and share repurchases. Chief Executive Dirk Van de Put said the quarter was driven by broad-based volume growth and continued investment in brands, innovation and distribution.
