MOL stock (ISIN HU0000153937) costs EUR 14.03 at Lang & Schwarz on October 19, 2026, at 10:12 a.m. CEST. The Hungarian energy group had inaugurated its first biomethane plant in Szarvas on October 16, 2026, according to Bioenergy Insight Magazine.
Renewable gas adds a new angle
The Szarvas project followed an investment of more than HUF 2.70 billion and gives MOL a route to inject purified biomethane into Hungary's national gas network. The facility is designed to replace more than 7 million cubic meters of natural gas annually, equivalent to the average yearly demand of 8,500 households, Bioenergy Insight Magazine reported on October 16, 2026.
The plant processes more than 40,000 tonnes of waste from the regional meat industry, 53,000 tonnes of residual waste and 18,000 tonnes of agricultural substrate each year. MOL acquired the underlying biogas plant in 2023, while the earlier operation produced almost 24 GWh of renewable electricity and heat annually.
What does the earnings gap mean?
MOL's second-quarter 2026 revenue was HUF 2.91 trillion against a HUF 3.23 trillion forecast, a shortfall of 9.91 percent. The same period produced HUF 244.60 billion in earnings and earnings per share of HUF 326.00 versus a HUF 180.57 estimate, according to Yahoo Finance.
Next reporting date
The next scheduled quarterly report is November 6, 2026, according to the MOL market calendar cited by wallstreetONLINE. That date will put the renewable expansion alongside the group's operating performance and cash generation.
Stock holds above its yearly low
MOL operates across exploration, production, refining, retail and mobility services. Its shares are listed in Budapest and Warsaw, while the company says the biomethane project can support future acquisitions and greenfield investments in the sector.
